TONIGHT! Bands Sing Songs By Other Bands At KARAOKE101

Because imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

As previously reported, the bar Bakkus is celebrating its swan-song week with its final instalment of the B-Waves festival. Amidst all the madness they’ll be hosting in the next few days is the multimedia performance project KARAOKE101 by Australian multidisciplinary artist Emma Sanderson, a project for the SÍM Residency program.

Using as many platforms as possible and taking full advantage of the current cultural setting, Emma has created individual karaoke videos for various Icelandic bands and then having those perfomed by other Icelandic artists. So for example, the song “I Know She Does” by Just Another Snake Cult may end up getting sung by Bloodgroup! (Just speculating here…)

All in all it will be a heart-warming way to experience the closeness of the Icelandic music scene by honouring each other in one of the most enjoyable social experiences possible, with the aid of some seriously cool visuals which Emma made partially with the assistance of Jurga Latvyte, Rik McNair and Glen Wolter. On top of it all, because they are all band members already, there’s very little chance of someone pulling a Cameron Diaz in ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’!

The whole thing starts at 18:00 and includes karaoke performances by:
Just Another Snake Cult
Ojba Rasta
Kiriyama Family
Angry Bones
Rökkurró
RetRoBot
Boogie Trouble
Bloodgroup
Borko
FM Belfast
Náttfari
