Björk has released the first video from her forthcoming album. It’s for “The Gate,” which has also been released as a limited edition one-sided 12″. The track picks up where ‘Vulnicura’ left off, continuing the themes of loss and healing.
The video is by Andrew Huang, a long-time collaborator who also worked on the virtual reality works seen in the Björk: Digital” exhibition. “The Gate picks up where 2015’s Vulnicura left off,” says Andrew, talking to NOWNESS. “The doorway lies within the [chest] wound from Vulnicura… I am especially proud of this film as I feel it is a culmination of my five-year collaboration with Björk and James Merry. It’s been such a nourishing three-way relationship and this film is the perfect synthesis of our brains and our hearts. Having Alessandro Michele’s design as the centerpiece in this film is a dream.”
Björk also recently revealed that the working title for the album is “Utopia,” in a recent interview for Nowness. The album release date is rumoured to be November 2017.
