Hi Nanna,

This snowpocalypse is really cramping our vacation style, it seems like traveling around by car is pretty risky and getting anywhere by foot is impossible. Do you have any tips for getting around? We’d really like to see Jökulsárlón or maybe drive to Ísafjörður in our rental but it’s not a jeep or anything. Thoughts?

Snowed In

God damn it Snowed In!

Look outside! Just LOOK! This is mother nature telling you to leave her to her business. She might entertain a small walk or maybe a snowman but this is not an invitation to try to venture further afield. And anyway, why go outside? Inside has all the things! Much cosy. Very comfort. Wow.

Hi Nanna,

What can I expect to see on a whale watching trip?

Whale Watcher

Wait, what?

Whales, I guess? A.K.A Sea Trolls.

Nanna

Dear Nanna,

Do Icelanders actively fear a volcanic eruption? Is it something that looms over the national conscience?

Katla

Dear Katla,

Yes it does. Always it lingers in the back of our minds, “is today the day we all die in a pit of molten lava?” But what can we do but soldier on? Drink, work, live, create music and art to dull the ever-present anxiety gnawing away at our sense of peace and serenity. It is the way of the island, it is the way of our life here.
