PAPA (US)

PAPA is the musical project of Drummer/Vocalist Darren Weiss and Co Songwriter and Bass Player Danny Presant. The two have been playing music together since the young age of 12. In 2011 they released a critically acclaimed debut EP titled A Good Woman Is Hard To Find which received accolades from Pitchfork to Nylon to Huffington Post. They have followed it up with a 7″ single for the song ‘Put Me To Work.’ The band has been supporting the releases on the road, touring with the likes of Girls, Handsome Furs, Of Monsters and Men, and Cold War Kids. They have become known for the raucous live performances at which they perform with a guitar player and keys. On Nov 4, they will release their debut album ‘Tender Madness’ on Island Records in the UK. They make romantic music. They make music with soul. As told by singer Darren Weiss, “Some of the songs on this album that come across as love songs, or lustful confessions have much more to do with my feelings towards America than any personal romantic longings. Some love songs were written about fictional characters in novels, who we’re often times far more compelling than the creatures I had access to. And sometimes, perhaps most often, I tried in earnest to tell my truths as I lived them.”
