The success story for young Norwegian/ Bulgarian Mikhael Paskalev started with the release of the platinum selling ‘I Spy,’ which became a smash hit in Norway. The remarkable Tom Cruise-homage video made waves in the music underground from Norway via Huffington Post to Hype Machine, and has had over 1 million views on Youtube and Vimeo.
Mikhael Paskalev makes pop music with a twist and roots in indie and alternative country rock, inspired by names such as Paul Simon, The Shins, Edward Sharpe, The Mamas and the Papas and The Everly Brothers. His songs are recognized by the instrumentation, unusual structures and strong melodies. At times they are shamelessly catchy, but never leave the lovely and raw soundscape in which he and producer wonderkid Joe Wills choses to operate.
Paskalev and bandoffers a dynamic live set, varying from songs accompanied by his nylon-strung guitar only, to a six-piece band with the occasional trumpet and a circus of energy.
