Popular Music Studies is a growing field in academia that’s still relatively little known in Iceland. Dr Matt Brennan, lecturer at The University of Edinburgh, is one of Britains foremost scholars on the topic and works closely with Professor Simon Frith, one of the founding fathers of the field. Dr. Brennan is in town to attend the Iceland Airwaves festival, among other things, but we’re lucky enough that he’s also hosting an informal lecture/seminar where he’ll be introducing the basics of popular music studies. And it’s happening TODAY!
Arnar Eggert Thoroddsen, a PhD researcher at the University of Edinburgh, will moderate the event.
The School of Social Sciences at The University of Iceland host the event, which takes place at Gimli, room 102, at the University of Iceland at 16:30. All are welcome, and there is no admission fee.
