Happening This Week: ‘Gimme Danger’ Jim Jarmusch X The Stooges
Parker Yamasaki

After all of the recent elections (all of them), a lot of people are left feeling like we’re living in a political Fun House. Nothings right, everything’s right, everything’s weird and we’re looking for answers to questions we didn’t know we had. But who to turn to? To the restless youth of past, naturally. On November 18 Bíó Paradís screens Jim Jarmusch’s newest documentary ‘Gimme Danger,’ a survey of the endlessly influential punk-rockers, The Stooges. Jarmusch has always had a tap in the musical vein, his films have featured the likes of Screamin Jay Hawkins, Neil Young, Jack and Meg White, RZA and GZA, and others. Iggy has been in league with Jarmusch before, as a cross-dressing bible-quoter in 1995’s ‘Dead Man,’ and as himself in conversation with Tom Waits in ‘Coffee and Cigarettes.’ Both Iggy and Jim are dry dynamite, crackling with deadpan humour and a knack for shouting stories. The latest film was shown at the Cannes Film Festival Midnight Screenings and is now making its way across the pond this week. Tell us, Jim, Iggy, Mike, Ron…will we fall?

‘Gimme Danger’ plays November 19-21 at Bíó Paradís.
