Since the ensemble’s foundation in 2005, Nordic Affect’s mission has been to view familiar musical forms from a different perspective and venture into new terrain. This mission resulted in a nomination for this year’s Nordic Council Music Prize alongside artists such as The Knife, Efterklang and Maja Ratkje. Its members represent the new generation of period instrumentalists, whose performances in and outside of Iceland have ranged from 17th century dance music to exciting, modern, electronic compositions. Their CD recordings on the labels Bad Taste Records, MusMap and Brilliant Classics have received glowing reviews in the international press as well as recognition from the Iceland Music Awards and the Kraumur award. Upcoming events include collaborations with sound and visual artist Kippi Kaninus, amiina’s María Huld Markan and Bedroom Community’s Valgeir Sigurðsson.
