Iceland’s World Cup run has drawn a lot of attention from the media, the worldwide football punditry, and international supporters alike. Here’s a run down of some notable new supporters who’ve hopped on the SmiteWagon for the World Cup.
1. The Gladiator
After playing the lead in Noah, which was shot in Iceland, Maximus apparently has a soft spot for our little sub Arctic rock. He needs to pick a lane from the sprawling list below, but it still counts.
These are the teams I’m going to follow in the World Cup .
Not prediction for winners, just the teams I’ve decided to follow in the group stages…
Uruguay
Portugal
Australia
Iceland
Costa Rica
South Korea
Belgium
PolandWould be happy to see England win but Germany v.strong

2. The Maniac German Football Warlord
Jürgen Klopp has to say England to keep the scousers sweet. But inside, he’s Iceland through and through.
Klopp asked about Iceland's World Cup hopes????? "What they've done so far in football and handball is unbelievable. They only have 340,000 people there. If Germany or England don't win it, I'd like Iceland to win it. I love the attitude there."

3. The Sturgeon General
The Scottish nation is with us forever after The Elimination Of England…

4. The Big Stage Buskers
Only a rumour, this one, but Mumford & Sons were apparently determined to play at Iceland Airwaves 2017 after being impressed by the Iceland team’s performance at the Euros. So if Iceland don’t win, we can at least rest in the knowledge that they won’t be coming back.
5. The Wise-Cracking Talk Show Gent
Emmy and Grammy winning Daily Show alum Stephen Colbert came out in favour of Iceland after Euro 2016. We’re willing to bet hard Króna that, with the U.S. failing to qualify, he’s with us at World Cup.
6. The Ice Prez
I mean, obviously. But the pineapple-hating, Putin-baiting president of Iceland, Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, is squarely behind the team… even if Iceland’s dignitaries are boycotting the tournament based on Russia’s human rights record. Check out his sick football skills below.
