An entire island in the Westfjords of Iceland has been listed for sale, Morgunblaðið reports.
Vigur, the island for sale, is located in Ísafjarðardjúp, directly North of Litlibær. It is reachable by speed boat in ten minutes from Súðavík, in good weather. There are daily excursions to the island by boat from June until late August. The island is 45 hectares, including 10 hectares of arable land. The total building structures on the island amount to just over 700 square meters, with residential housing amounting to over 200 square meters. The island has stable electricity and a nearby water source. There is also a possibility to buy the summer house on the island from the owners.
Vigur is known for being home to the most famous windmill in Iceland, which is owned by the National Museum of Iceland. There is also a Victorian house on the island, which is also property of the National Museum. The smallest post office in Iceland is also located on Vigur.
The owner claims that Vigur is a fantastic opportunity to invest in tourism, as the island clocks in 10,000 visitors annually. It has its own coffee shop, souvenir shop, dining hall, restaurant, residential house with ten bedrooms, cottage, barn, chalet, smokehouse (for all of your DIY hangikjöt needs), garage, and more. Vigur is also a well-known spot for bird watching. The sheep barn has a capacity of 70-80 sheep.
