The latest results of Kjarninn’s poll aggregate are out, spelling trouble for the ruling coalition.
Kjarninn, in association with Boston University professor of mathematics Baldur Héðinsson, have compiled the results of several recent polls on parliamentary party support, averaging out the numbers to provide a greater sense of gestalt.
According to their findings, the largest party in the country is the Pirate Party, at 28.3%. These numbers are unchanged from the last aggregate poll, released June 14, and the party has been at or near the top of the polls for over a year now.
Over the same period of time, support for the ruling coalition of the Independence Party and the Progressives is in trouble. The former saw a drop in support, from 26.5% to 24%, while the latter is lingering at 10%.
Where other opposition parties who are not the Pirates are concerned, the Left-Greens have seen a small rise in support between polls, and are now at 16.8%. Viðreisn, a centre-right party formed only months ago, also saw a small rise in support, and are now at 8.2%, exceeding even the Social Democrats, who were formed at the turn of the century, and now have 7.8%. At the same time, Bright Future is currently at 4.5%.
While an exact date for parliamentary elections has still not been set, parliament is aiming to hold them this autumn.
