A small earthquake near Krýsuvík was felt in the capital area town, and disrupted power in some areas.
Vísir reports that tremors were felt in the Arnarhraun neighbourhood of Hafnarfjörður yesterday evening, with power temporarily cutting out in some parts of town. Power has since been restored, and there were no reported injuries nor great material damage.
Initial recordings of the event by the Icelandic Met Office showed two tremors, originating about five kilometres from the geologically active Krýsuvík area, which is located near Hafnarfjörður.
The largest tremor measured at 3.9 on the Richter scale, and was located just south of Kleifarvatn Lake. There were some aftershocks measured, but they were so small that it is unlikely they were physically detected.
