The dulcet tones of Motörhead appeal to people of all walks of life, including Icelandic investment capitalists, as recently revealed in a VICE photo gallery. Novator Partners confirmed for Grapevine that Novator’s CFO is indeed a big fan of Lemmy.
A VICE photo gallery of last Saturday’s memorial service in Los Angeles for the Motörhead frontman caught the attention of a number of Icelanders – in particular, due to the 8th photo, which appears to show Icelandic entrepreneur Björgólfur Thor Björgólfson present with a bouquet of flowers in hand.
Grapevine contacted Novator Partners, the investment firm Björgólfur Thor currently chairs, to find out if this was indeed him or just a startling look-alike.
“Björgólfur Thor Björgólfson was in LA and brought a bouquet of flowers on behalf of his friend and partner in Novator, [CFO] Andri Sveinsson,” Novator spokesperson Ragnhildur Sverrisdottir told us. “Andri is a big Motörhead and Lemmy fan, has seen Motörhead seven times and intended to see them again in London at the end of this month. This was a favour for a friend, bringing the bouquet [to the memorial].”
Above you can see a close-up of the bouquet in question, replete with “God bless his memory” in Icelandic written on the card.
