The Association of Icelandic Municipalities has ranked the country’s towns and villages based on their budgeting of finances.
Kjarninn reports that, based on how much revenue a municipality has generated and how well it budgets said revenue, Seltjarnarnes has come out on top as the “dream town” to live in, ranking 9 on a scale of 0 to 10. Garðabær came in second place, with 8.1, and Grindavík followed close behind with 8.0.
In fact, Seltjarnarnes and Garðabær have switched places at the top spots since 2006.
Reykjavík, despite it being home to almost half the population of the country, only managed to rank in 22nd place out of a possible 36 municipalities, with a grade of 5.5.
Reykjanesbær, with a household debt averaging about 2.5 million ISK per person, was the most indebted municipality in Iceland. However, this still did not put them in the bottom spot. That distinction belongs to Hafnarfjörður, which earned a ranking of 3.0.
