After a seven-year absence, British Airways is finally coming back to Iceland.
RÚV reports that the airline will be offering flights between Iceland and London, starting October 25. There will be three flights per week – on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays – departing from Keflavík at 15:30 and landing at Heathrow around dinnertime.
This is not the first time British Airways operated in Iceland. They offered numerous flights to and from the UK in the 1970s, and had regular flights to and from Gatwick from 2006 to 2008.
In times when British Airways was not flying to and from Iceland, it still often proved an advantageous choice for travellers. In 2005, for example, it was cheaper to take two flights – Iceland Express to the UK, and then British Airways to Baltimore – than it was to take Icelandair directly.
