Belgium’s leading indie rock band Girls in Hawaii was created ten years ago from Antoine Wielemans and Lio Vancauwenberge’s vocals, song writing and guitar playing. Their first album “From Here to There,” out in 2003 under 62TV records, was a big success all over Europe. The group built a reputation as one of the best live acts around, aided by the videos they project during their concerts. The second album “Plan Your Escape” came out in 2008 and confirmed their reputation as great live performers. After a year of non-stop tours of Europe’s biggest festival’s and visits to Iceland, Canada and the United States (SXSW, CMJ, etc.) they released a DVD titled “Not Here,” an amazing, testimonial film. When they started working on their third album, tragedy struck with the loss of their drummer Denis Wielemans (brother of singer Antoine Wielemans) in a car accident. This put a stop to the group’s activity, and it was only two years later that they found the energy to start anew. Their much anticipated new album, recorded at an ancient manor house in Paris and mixed by legend Tchad Blake, will be released in September 2013.
