After being driven into by a car, an injured cyclist was harassed on the street because his fall caused a minor traffic jam, reports Vísir.
The accident occured on Laufásvegur when the cyclist in question was struck by a car doing a U-Turn. He sustained some damage to his knees, elbows and hands. As the driver of the car that hit the cyclist went out to check on him and apologise, a minor traffic jam cropped up behind the car.
“Two cars turned on to Laufásvegur and had to stop because we were in the way,” said the cyclicst, Magnús Hreggviðsson. “Then the guy in the second car starts to honk and whistle and yell at us to move the hell over.”
Both Magnús and the driver of the car that hit him attempted to explain that there had been an accident and that Magnús’ hand was injured.
“It didn’t seem to matter at all. I was in shock and I gave him the finger. Then he lost it,” Magnús said. “This guy gets out of his car. Absolutely furious. I thought he was getting out to come attack me… He said ‘I don’t care about your accident’ and ‘Fuck you and your hand’.”
“The cherry on top of it all was his brand new silver Range Rover,” Magnús said, insisting that the angry driver had done nothing but reinforce the Range Rover stereotype.
“And there I was advertising the use of cars, I guess,” Magnús said laughing. “I suppose it’s pretty funny, actually.”
