Sales of Viagra have gone up by 120% in the last 4 years and has become the drug of choice among high school students, sexologist says.
“Ask any high school student, everyone’s heard of Kamagra. If they haven’t tried it, they know someone who is using it or selling it,” said sexologist Sigga Dögg Arnardóttir in an interview with Vísir.
Kamagra, like Viagra, is a treatment for erectile dysfunction that is taken to help a man maintain an erection.
In the last 4 years roughly 180.000 doses of Viagra have been sold in Iceland though Sigga says the 120% increase in sales is comparable to neighbouring countries like Denmark who have also seen a similar uptake.
Sigga warns this could become a serious problem because the drugs should not be mixed with alcohol.
“I have heard high school students say time and again that they have trouble getting it up after they’ve been partying and then these drugs are the answer,” Sigga said. “And girls have been trying it too. Some talk of Viagra making them more sensitive and increasing their satisfaction.”
Side effects include headaches, indigestion, congestion, cardiac arrhythmia and more.
