A new poll shows that while general dissatisfaction with Reykjavík mayor Jón Gnarr is on the rise, so is support for his own party.
RÚV reports that a Gallup poll taken two months after Jón took office showed 40% happy with the work he was doing, a similar percentage without an opinion, and only 17% unhappy.
Today, nearly 50% of respondents say they are dissatisfied with the Jón’s performance as mayor, while only 20% are happy with it. If only Reykjavík residents are taken into account, 52% are unhappy and 24% are happy with the job he is doing.
At the same time, support for the Best Party has increased by about 4% since last March. In fact, a poll from Market and Media Research taken last month showed that some 20% would vote for the Best Party in parliamentary elections.
