The Icelandic Met Office recorded three hundred earthquakes last night from the Hellisheiði area, which turned out to be the doings of Reykjavík Energy.
Vísir reports that Reykjavík Energy has been working on rerouting a drainage pipe from Gráhnúkar to Húsmúla, leading to a series of small earthquakes over the last few days.
As the company continues to drill boreholes that fill with water, it is not unlikely that this seismic activity will continue. However, the company says that the earthquakes, which measured less than three on the Richter scale, are no reason to worry and the staff in the area have hardly been aware of them.
