A twenty five year old man admitted yesterday evening to murdering the twenty year old mother of their two year old child. He drove to Landspítali Hospital where he spoke to staff and opened the trunk to reveal her body. She had been dead a few hours, according to DV.is.
According to DV’s sources, the murder likely took place in Heiðmörk, a nearby municipal conservation area, but police have not confirmed this.
The couple had recently moved to Akureyri in North Iceland after spending the last few years living in the East. They were said to be orderly and to have fit well into their community, according to DV’s sources.
The incident took friends and acquaintances by surprise. “They were regular, easy going people,” a neighbour that DV spoke with said.
The man is being held in custody. Motive and cause of death have not been made public.
