A new article on tourist-review.com has proclaimed Iceland “the safest country in the world”.
The article points out a number of facts regarding Iceland’s crime rate, such as the miniscule incidence of homocide (0 per 100,000 citizens), that policemen do not carry guns, and that prisoners go home for public holidays. In all, it seems the assessment is saying that because few people live here, it’s a safe destination for tourists, which is undoubtedly true.
Denmark and Norway are also named as among the safest countries in the world, but lest one expect this to be yet another “Europe is awesome and you take your life in your hands going anywhere else” tourist article, they also point out that Singapore, Cyprus and Japan are also relatively violent-crime-free.
