The Icelandic town of Garður approved a resolution to look into the possibility of the building of a private hospital.
The negotiations would be made with PrimaCare, a corporation that sells a chain of medical centres. Specifically, Garður would have PrimaCare build a health centre for hip and knee surgery. Town council said it was prepared to work with PrimaCare, and to allow them four hectares of town land for the proposed centre.
According to sources close to Morgunblaðið, the centre will have 70 offices, and will be accompanied by a 50 to 60 room hotel, all capable of treating some 3,000 patients per year.
The negotiation resolution will last until 7 Septembe 2011. During this time PrimaCare and Garður will try to draw up a contact that both can agree on.
