Once again, a two-headed lamb has been born in Iceland – a little over a month since the previous one.
Many Icelandic sheep farmers are taking care of new lambs being born. A sheep belonging to Jón Eyjólfsson, a farmer in Reykholtsdal, gave birth to a two-headed lamb.
“Fortunately, it was born hind-legs first,” Jón told the regional news site Skessuhorn, meaning that a headfirst birth would have likely killed the mother. “It was born alive but mercifully died shortly thereafter.”

A previous two-headed lamb was born in south Iceland last March. While that animal stayed alive after being born – and was able to bleat from both mouths simultaneously – it was put down by the local veterinarian.
