British Mine Found In Iceland

Published February 3, 2014

The Icelandic Coast Guard found a British mine in North East Iceland this weekend, reports mbl.is.

While inspecting the mine, a Coast Guard bomb specialist determined that the bomb contained between 100-150 kilos of explosives. Mines of this type are considered extremely dangerous, even if they are left undisturbed for several decades.

With consent from Þórshöfn police, the mine was safely destroyed by the Coast Guard who uploaded a video of the explosion on Facebook.
