Earthquake of magnitude 4.8 occurred near Grindavík town on the Reykjanes peninsula, with epicentre 6 km deep, 56 km southwest of Reykjavík, at 7:34 on Sunday morning.
The earthquake could be felt all over the western part of Iceland, even as far as Hella in South Iceland and Hólmavík in northern Iceland, RÚV reports.
Residents in Keflavík and Njarðvík on the Reykjanes peninsula felt the shake the most however, where furniture jolted and chandeliers swung around.
No damages or injuries have been reported.
The 4.8 earthquake was part of a wave of seismic activity in Reykjanes which started around midnight on Saturday night.
