An Icelandic artist hopes to organise and initiate a steampunk festival in Iceland next summer.
Vísir reports that artist Ingimar Oddsson hopes to kick off the festival in the west Iceland area of Vesturbyggð. The festival is tentatively scheduled to take place 27 to 30 June 2014.
Ingimar says that among the events to take place at the festival, a blimp will float over the crowds as gymnasts perform, culminating in a dance featuring “manfolk in top hats and women in long dresses with corsets.”
The final details are still being worked out – for example, where to get a blimp from – but municipal authorities in the region welcome the event.
For those unfamiliar with steampunk, you should probably just watch this video rather than rely on our own feeble attempts to describe it.
