A new fund raising Champagne club, for both sexes, opens on Thursday night in Reykjavík, at Stígamót -sexual assault crisis centre.
Guests can pay 20.000 ISK for a ten minute private show while drinking as much free champagne as possible.
“Since it’s our opening night, we welcome especially the city mayor, the police commissioner, ministers, MPs and city councillors,” reads Stígamót’s press release.
“Dashing women will provide conversation, singing and even dancing in either Icelandic, English or the other Nordic languages. Note that some of these women are registered for the Miss Iceland beauty contest.”
Amongst the acts is a short talk given by the centre’s founder, Dr Guðrún Jónsdóttir, about the history of Stígamót. She also offers to dance a little bit, if anyone’s interested.
“Þórunn Þórarinsdóttir will chant rhymes, she has been a member of a choir for many years and has quite a good voice,” also reads in the press release.
“Theodóra offers to teach people how to knit a woollen poncho in ten minutes, given that people are not too drunk. Anna Bentína offers a personal and entertaining chat about rape and Guðný and Áslaug will recite statistics about how many have sought assistance at Stígamót over the years. They can get through an incredible amount of statistics in such a short time.”
Both men and women are welcome to the Champagne Club, which will be an exciting addition to the selection of Champagne Clubs already operating in the city.
