Last month was the coldest July in Reykjavík since 2002, with average temperature of only 10,6°C.

Average rainfall in the city was 72,2 mm in July, which is 40% more than the overall July average for Reykjavík, mbl.is reports.
In Akureyri, the average temperature in July however was 11,2 degrees. July hasn’t been warmer in Akureyri than Reykjavík since 2005.

Most of July was cloudy and wet in the south and west of Iceland but the last ten days much warmer and sunnier, with the opposite applying to the northeast and east parts of Iceland which saw nice weather for the first three quarters of July.

So, summer didn’t really arrive in Reykjavík until last week, as June was cold and miserable too. But here’s hoping August will pull through!
