Foreigners don’t seem to have much respect for the town of Selfoss in South Iceland, to the extent that they’ve literally shat on the place.
A bus was driven inside a container area on Monday afternoon, where the locals get rid of garbage and recyclable waste, but its driver just emptied the bus’ toilet right on the ground by the driveway, visir.is reports.
The supervisor of the container area, Ragnar Sigurjónsson, was stunned at the driver’s audacity. “A man who had been throwing some garbage away came over to me and asked me whether I had noticed what the bus driver had done,” Ragnar told visir.is.
“I replied that no, I had no idea. – He just emptied the bus toilet there by the road. – What? He really did? – Yup, he was just flushing away.”
Ragnar went later to check and there was no doubt about it, the spot was really messy and no question what the waste was.
The bus was from a foreign tour operator and headed straight for Hótel Selfoss where the guests on the tour were staying overnight.
Ragnar told visir.is that he didn’t understand such behaviour.
“I feel as if we’re being shat on. I think it’s rather lame and rude. This sort of work methods shouldn’t be seen in this day and era. It’s quite sad that someone would do something like this, in front of everybody. I don’t understand it.”
