Weekly flights between Akureyri and Copenhagen may be starting next spring, according to the director of marketing for North Iceland, Arnheiður Jóhannsdóttir.
Arnheiður has been in ongoing talks with an unnamed foreign airline and Icelandic travel agency Trans-Atlantic to work out this new flight path, RÚV reports.
With North Iceland being named one of Lonely Planet’s top destinations for 2013, weekly direct flights could prove to be very popular among tourists looking to see more of the country than the capital region.
