Musician Ásgeir Trausti has dropped the latter name and will from now on only use the name “Ásgeir” when performing abroad. “It’s just because “Ásgeir Trausti” is too hard to pronounce for those not from Iceland,” Ásgeir said to Vísir.is.
He has already removed the second name from his Facebook fan page and YouTube channel. “I think I’ll stick to the “Trausti” name here in Iceland, although I’m not too concerned about it. I just figure that name has stuck already here. But we decided to simplify the name before we go full blast promoting me abroad,” Ásgeir said, adding it has sometimes been fun hearing foreigners attempting to pronounce his name.
“That was quite amusing. I heard all sorts of versions of my name and usually it was only right when I said it myself.” Ásgeir Trausti is rather busy these days, rehearsing before flying to Paris on Monday where he joins Of Monsters and Men’s tour till end of July.
He’s also preparing for the release of an English version of his debut album ‘Dýrð í dauðaþögn’, which won ‘The Best Album’ at this years Icelandic Music Awards.
