A group of filmmakers and movie stars from India are expected in Iceland later this month to shoot scenes for a remake of the successful Tollywood film Brindavanam, Vísir has it from Times of India.
While sharing many elements with the famous Bollywood genre, such as melodrama, romantic intrigue, feuding families and song-and-dance numbers, Brindavanam (2010) is not actually a product of the Hindi film scene in Bombay where Bollywood takes its name, and neither is the remake which is to be filmed in Iceland. The latter will be in the Kannada language and hails from the Karnataka state in southwest India.
Still the plot of Brindavanam, which centers on the son of a millionaire who is persuaded to pose as a friend of friend’s lover in order to save her from an undesired arranged marriage, and involves feuding families and plenty of song-and-dance numbers, smells as sweet as any Bollywood rose.
The remake is directed by K. Madesha and the soundtrack and score are composed by V. Harikrishna. Members of both cast and crew, including the film’s two leading stars, are expected to shoot in Iceland over a period of ten days beginning May 21.
