If you happened to be outside last night and fixed your gaze upward you were likely treated to quite the spectacle, as a particularly impressive display of northern lights was out in full force.
The clear and cold night, combined with the “coronal mass ejection” – a massive burst of solar wind – that occurred on Friday resulted in a spectacular light show throughout much of the far north. NASA reports that the solar winds mixed with Earth’s magnetosphere yesterday, stirring up a solar storm and creating all those nifty colours in the sky.
