Þór Saari, an MP for The Movement, issued a request for another vote of no-confidence in the coalition government yesterday, stipulating that he wished for it to be addressed in parliament today. However, Þór’s wish for the vote to be expedited has been turned down, RÚV reports.
The parliamentary president has slated discussion of Þór’s no-confidence vote until Friday, as regulations allow for such matters to rest for two days.
Þór, who last called for a vote of no confidence on February 20th only to withdraw his motion when the government would be discussing it the next day (he wished at that point for the matter to rest for two days, as per regulation), submitted this new resolution yesterday afternoon and called for a temporary government comprised of leaders of all the parties represented in Parliament to take over until the April elections.
The MP is displeased with the government’s handling of the constitution and the lack of electoral reform that has taken place, ahead of the looming elections.
UPDATE: The vote of no confidence will be discussed and carried out on Monday. The decisions of 4 MP’s are currently unknown, but all 4 would have to vote against the coalition government for Þór Saari’s proposal to win.
