Björk’s back baby. That’s right, everyone’s go-to Icelandic pop culture reference and unofficial queen of kooky headpieces will be gracing the floorboards of Harpa with three weekend performances this summer in collaboration with Iceland Airwaves.
“I want to celebrate the fact that we have come out of the first phase of the coronavirus epidemic and recognise the many Icelandic musicians I’ve worked with over the years”, Björk wrote in a Facebook post.
The three performances will be “unplugged”, replacing percussion and electronics with the musicians from the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra.
A drinks reception will be held after the event to raise funds for the Women’s Refuge Fund.
“The virus has taught us all that we have enough and that we have to help others where we can. And @blacklivesmatter has reminded us strongly to look into our own bosom in terms of racism and respect, we need understanding and more assistance for refugees coming here,” Björk explained.
