Women were in the vast majority of those who took the entrance exam at the Univerity of Iceland’s medical department this spring. More than 70% of those who applied for the University of Iceland’s Medical Program were women. The gender distribution was more equal in physiotherapy.
A total of 314 students paid the registration fee for the entrance exam, RÚV reports. Of these, 225 were women, and 89 were men. Meanwhile, a total of 99 students paid the entrance exam for the physiotherapy program, 52 men and 47 women.
The exams took place on Thursday, June 11th and Friday, June 12th at Hamrahlíð High School, and consisted of six two-hour sessions. Of those who applied to both programs, 60 will be admitted to medicine, and 35 will be admitted to physiotherapy.
