The maximum number of people allowed to gather indoors has increased from 200 to 500 people as of today, June 15th. This maximum number will be valid until July 5th.

This ties in with the opening of the border today, and the screening for the virus at Keflavík Airport. Sampling booths have been installed, where passengers can choose to be tested or quarantine for two weeks.

There will be no changes to restrictions on pools and fitness centres. These places have been allowed to have 75% of their maximum occupancy since May 25th, RÚV reports.

Bars and restaurants will continue to close at 23:00 at the very latest, due to the special risk of contamination in those places.

Despite relaxing certain measures, the government still encourages people to maintain two-metres of proximity with each other. Buses, preschools and kindergartens are exempt from these restrictions.

As ever, those looking for more information or advice should go to the Icelandic Government’s excellent COVID-19 help page.
