Iceland ranks first among 135 other nations for its expansive gender equality measures for the fourth consecutive year.
The annual survey conducted by the World Economic Forum measures gender equality by looking at the wage earnings, participation in the labor market, level of education, political involvement and the health care system.
Fellow Nordic countries Finland, Norway and Sweden were also high on the list, taking second, third and fourth place, respectively. Countries at the bottom of the list include Yemen, Pakistan, Syria and Saudi Arabia.
