Public Encouraged To Limit Travel As Weather Intensifies

Updated February 25 at 14:09: The Icelandic Met Office has now issued a yellow weather warning for the capital area region.

The Suðurnes and capital region police departments have asked the public to limit unnecessary risk today, February 25, as snowfall is expected in the region. Winter road conditions are expected, and people are urged to monitor weather forecasts and traffic information

The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration (Vegagerðin) has also warned about challenging road conditions in the capital area. 

According to the police announcements, there is uncertainty which parts of the area will be hit the most and when. The newest predictions assume difficult conditions on Reykjanesbraut, upper parts of the capital area, and Hellisheiði pass between 14:00-19:00.
