According to the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration (Vegagerðin), elves living in Efri-Laugardælaeyja have approved the construction of a bridge through the island.

During preparation of bridge construction in the area, Vegagerðin received a tip about a ghost living on the island.

In a social media clip posted by Vegagerðin, project manager Höskuldur Tryggvason claimed that a resident told the Administration that they needed to negotiate with the ghost before resuming road work.

Vegagerðin apparently consulted with a person specialising in communication with hidden people. They stated that the island was not haunted, but inhabited by elves. Fortunately, the elves were sympathetic about the importance of the constructions and would temporarily relocate their abode during the project.

“We want to ensure that the project boasts a good aura,” Höskuldur said in the video.

Historic beef

The relationship between hidden people and the ICRA is well known, with cases of hostile elves even sabotaging construction machinery to stop highway projects, such as during the construction of Álfhólsvegur in Kópavogur.

During road work in 2015, Vegagerðin moved a 70 tonne rock in Gálgahraun, Garðabær, due to the belief that it contained a notable elf church.
