The European Football Association has issued a fine of 3.6 million ISK to the Danish football team Brøndby after its supporters’ behaviour during a match against the Icelandic team Víkingur, Vísir reports.
In early August, the two teams met for the first leg of the Europa Conference League’s third qualifying round at Víkingur’s home pitch in Reykjavík, resulting in a 3-0 win for the Icelandic team.
Immediately following the loss, Brøndby supporters clashed with members of the police, resulting in the arrest of one and the police using pepper-spray. Two people sought medical care due to the pepper spray. General Manager of Víkingur, Haukur Hinriksson, stated that the fans caused “definitely 5 million in damage” to the sports club.
After the game, some of the Brøndby supporters made their way to Ölver, a sports bar in Glæsibær, and — after even more rowdiness — were “blacklisted.”
