According to a recent report published by the Nordic Welfare Centre, 33% of Icelandic adults aged 18-24 years old use nicotine pouches, Vísir reports. The rate of use is the highest in Iceland compared to other Nordic nations.

The report utilises data collected between 2018 and 2024, and points to reduced cigarette consumption by the age groups. Smoking among Icelandic young adults is the lowest of all Nordic countries.

Norwegian young adults land second place, with about 30% of the demographic using nicotine pouches.

The report measures different age brackets in separate countries, as pictured.

The Nordic Welfare Centres concludes that comprehensive prevention and policy-making are needed to reduce nicotine consumption among Nordic youth.
