Yesterday, some 4,000 people demonstrated in solidarity with Black Americans and Black Icelanders, in response to the murder of George Floyd at the hands of the police. Attendees observed a moment of silence lasting over eight minutes—the amount of time it took Floyd to die—listened to speeches from Black people sharing their lived experiences of racism and what white people can do to fight racism, and to show their support to the civil rights uprising happening in the US right now.
