Culture Pick: Reykjavík Winter Lights Festival

From the 6th to the 9th of February the city will hold the Reykjavík Winter Lights Festival 2020. Every year the festival celebrates the beauty of winter by giving light do the very dark nights that the season holds. The festival is held when the days start growing longer, almost as a slow farewell to the long nights.

The opening of the festival will be held in Hallgrímskirkja with artwork by Heimir Hlöðversson, tomorrow, the 6th of February at 19h45, for free. Dozens of events will go on in these four days, the most famous is the Museum Night that takes place in the 7th and opens all museums in the capital area from 18h to 23h free of charge, with especial cultural acts to fill up the night. Also Pool Night, on the 9th, were the city invites everyone to enjoy the city’s pools for free, with some in-pool activities and special lighting.
