What started as a typical bingo evening became a storm of drama, accusations and assault, prompting the police to intervene.

MBL reports that police were called to the Gullöldin Sports Bar in Grafarvogur, east Reykjavík, last night in response to a reported disturbance. A bingo tournament was being held at the location and, while normally known as a low-key event, matters soon took a turn for the worse.

According to police, a woman at the tournament was angry with the bingo MC, and had accused them of cheating. When another woman came to the MC’s defence, the accuser struck her in the face. It was not disclosed if any arrests were made.

Police report that the start to the Easter holidays was otherwise fairly peaceful, with a few people stopped for driving under the influence. Tensions may have been high at last night’s bingo tournament on account of the fact that it is forbidden by law to play it over the Easter holidays.
