From Iceland — Massive Storm Brewing: Upwards Of 40 Metres Per Second Predicted

Massive Storm Brewing: Upwards Of 40 Metres Per Second Predicted

Published June 1, 2017

Don’t get blown away, but here comes another weather update.

Yesterday, cafés and parks in Reykjavik were filled to the brim with Icelanders wearing shorts and t-shirts. Today, they woke up to a serious storm warning in the south of Iceland. Oh Icelandic weather, never change, we wouldn’t know what to talk about if you did.

The storm is estimated to hit over 20 metres per second at the coast, with upwards of crazy 40 metres predicted in the highlands.

That means dangerous driving conditions, even for large vehicles, especially for the cool RV people. So maybe get off the roads and go to Kaffibarinn instead, they’ve got a dingy smoking area and Einstök on tap.
