Kex Hostel’s “Köntrí” festival is back again for a fourth installation.

Today through Saturday, Kex Hostel will be hosting a special country-themed festival, replete with appropriate music, food and drink. This marks the fourth time the hostel has held the event, and this year’s promises to be as action-packed as those previous.

“KEX Köntrí is a festival held at KEX Hostel and it’s a celebration of the 4th of July,” a statement from Kex reads. “At Kex Köntrí we will celebrate American culture with American food, drinks and country influenced music. This year’s program boasts a few of our favorite local folk- and Americana-influenced artists, and the entrance is free. First come, first serve.”

The schedule of events for the festival is as follows:

Thursday, July 2nd
8:00 PM Mr. Silla
9:15 PM KK

Friday, July 3rd
9:00 PM Lights on the highway

Saturday, July 4th
8:30 PM Kex Köntrí All Stars (featuring musicians Ingibjörg Elsa Turchi, Óskar Kjartansson, Tómas Jónsson and Örn Eldjárn. The vocalists are amongst Iceland’s finest and they are Arnar Ingi Ólafsson, Elín Ey, Lilja Björk Runólfsdóttir and Snorri Helgason).

KEX Hostel’s Restaurant, Sæmundur í sparifötunum, has reportedly prepared a special menu for the occasion. Attendees are exhorted to dust off their boots and get themselves some ribs, bluegrass, lemonade, creamed corn and, of course, Coca-Cola.
