A concert is being held at Iðnó tonight to raise money for the building of an artist retreat in picturesque Selárdalur.

The event starts at 20:00 tonight, and will feature a line-up of Ghostigital, Sin Fang, dj. flugvél og geimskip, Helíum and Vio. Admission is only 1,000 ISK.

Proceeds for this event will go towards the building of an artist’s retreat in Selárdalur, location on the south shore of Arnarfjörður in the Westfjords. This location is not only remote, nearly entirely unpopulated, and gorgeous – it is also the home of the works of self-taught artist Samúel Jónsson.

The Grapevine visited the location in 2011. At that time, plans to build a retreat for artists to stay, evoke inspiration and do their work were still in the initial stages. Organisers hope that, with this benefit concert, those plans will be closer to becoming a reality.
