Massive Influx Of Tourists In Akureyri

Akureyri found itself inundated with tourists today when two massive cruise ships docked in the northern town.
The MSC Magnifica and Adventure of the Seas unloaded 5,500 visitors to explore Akureyri, the largest tow in northern Iceland, and to take part in tourist activities nearby, RÚV reports.
Böðvar Eggertsson , a port worker who oversaw the ships’ arrivals in Akureyri, commented that today was the best day of the summer so far, as the flood of tourist enjoyed sunny skies and a temperature of 18ºC.
Locals also got the experience of seeing two massive ships towering over their homes for the day. Th Adventure of the Seas weighs in at 137 thousand tonnes, while the MSC Magnifica is a more modest 92 thousand tones.
